Let Go to Grow

Empowerment is my standard no matter if I'm teaching Martial Arts, self-defense, posting thoughts on social media, or speaking at events.

This is my hand. These are my tattoos on my hand. I use to think that naturally, I'm a fighter that the action of letting go made me weak, and that I didn't try hard enough. I have a butterfly tattoo on the same hand, and the metamorphosis and transformations of a leaf-eating caterpillar to a nectar-sipping butterfly are amazing. For a caterpillar to become a butterfly it must change. Likewise, nothing in the human world is permanent. (Except these tattoos. )

Letting go no matter if it is of ideas, situations, people, connections, our thoughts, becomes an act of self-compassion and growth. Not always easy to think of it that way, especially because we have to put ourselves first in this instance. It involves shedding old patterns, beliefs, and relationships, that no longer serve the person we are becoming. Like the caterpillar transforming into a butterfly.

Letting go we create the space needed for positive transformations. We can be kind to ourselves and others when we need to let go. Not everything can be controlled or predicted how others will perceive us when we let go. There is freedom when we can accept that.

Ultimately, the act of letting go is an empowering choice. It enables us to reclaim our agency, redirect our energy, and create space for new beginnings and opportunities.

I needed to tattoo this on my body as a permanent reminder that letting go does not make me weak, instead it makes me be able to float like a butterfly accepting the importance of natural endings in life, whether it's a relationship, a phase, or a dream. Let go to grow!
